Have you tried to create your website on your own, only to get overwhelmed with all the options and not know where to begin or if you're doing things right?
That was exactly how Sian was feeling before coming to me to help with her website.
Sian is an awesome hypnotherapist and business coach for mums. Sheβs great at what she does, but designing a website is something that was completely new to her.
And that meant the overwhelm had stopped her from creating her website and she did nothing with it for months, solely relying on word of mouth and social media to grow her business.
That's all changed now, and I'm excited to share that you can check out her beautiful new website at Focused Minds CT! Go check it out π
Now Sian has a website that makes her look more professional and she's proud to show off. It's given her a platform to run her business that isn't social media, and she's been able to use her website to interact with her clients by sharing her blog posts, her how to say no guide and hypnotherapy guide, and details about her services.
Her favourite parts of the experience?
"The easy process, the fact there was a short window until launch and Jessica gave me really good questions to think about which helped loads for when I was writing the content."
Plus, it's always fun seeing other's leaving comments like this when they see her website! β©β© π
When I first spoke with Sian, she was ready to go all in with her business and to really grow the coaching side further. She wanted her website to showcase how amazing her services are, and highlight the best ways she can support you on your journey.
Now she has an on brand and professional online space to promote her business, along with the confidence to make updates to her website herself. And look how cute her photos are from her branding shoot!
In our time working together, we:
Created Sianβs full website with a focus on booking discovery calls and getting sign ups to her email list
Set up MailerLite so Sian is able to promote her How to say No and ditch the Guilt and Hypnotherapy guides with an automated email delivering the guides
Made sure everything was optimised for SEO and looked just right π on mobile, since we want Sianβs website to show in Google search results and mobile views are super important since over half of website visits are done on phones these days

Hereβs the deets:
The template: For this website, I went with the Crosby template on Squarespace 7.1. Since the templates on Squarespace 7.1 all have the same functionality and I delete the template pages anyway, I could have selected any 7.1 template as a starting point. I love this version of Squarespace for how much control you can have over the sections, the flexibility of the colour palettes with the section themes, and the fact that mobile view tends to scale even better than Squarespace 7.0
The website objectives: Our focus with Sianβs website is to book discovery calls and grow Sianβs email list, so we have used calls to action throughout her website focused on these actions
The design process: I had a lot of fun creating Sianβs website! Her branding colours are very different to what Iβve worked with before, and I love getting to play with the circular shape from her logo as a design element. We also played with some custom bullet points and created a rotating banner on the home page, but mostly we kept the focus on the photos and words
Is there any custom code? Yes. I fell in love with coding long before I started creating websites, and itβs such a great way for me to personalise my clients sites so they are even more unique. I have used code to:
Install a custom font for the main text
Add a background behind the heading on the main images while in mobile view so the headings stand out more
Reverse some sections on mobile so they stack in the order I wanted them to
Remove the close icon on the announcement bar so the bar is always fixed in place
Remove the header and footer on some pages (find the code for how to do this here)
Personalise the Cookie notice colour
Change the summary block titles (find the code for how to do this here)
Make the buttons the same size on some pages (find the code for how to do this here)
While I LOVE adding code to websites, it is absolutely not necessary to create a beautiful website, especially in Squarespace 7.1. I find I use a lot less code on this newer version of Squarespace as there are more customisation options built in
Favourite creative features:
1 | I really like how the scrolling banner images turned out on the home page. This is the first time Iβve tried something like this on a site before, and I love that it has the option to add text, buttons or other content over each individual banner is Sian ever wanted to
2 | I really loved playing with the circular element from Sianβs logo. This was added to some of the background sections by creating a new project in Canva thatβs 2000px wide x 1500px high, adding the background colour, then adding the circle element. Once the file was saved, I was able to upload it as a background image in the section settings
3 | Iβm actually a huge fan of the clean, simple design for this website. It can often feel like we need to add more in, but having clean designs with lots of white space can help your content stand out and be read
