I’m going to tell you a bit of a story before moving on to my reasons!

A few years ago, I used to write a lifestyle blog on Wordpress. While I enjoyed my time over there, it never really felt like the right platform for me. Don’t get me wrong, Wordpress is a powerful platform, and I am quite tech savvy and never had any issues with updates or changes. It just didn’t feel quite right to me.

Fast forward a couple of years and I was engaged and planning a destination wedding. Knowing how much information I had to relay to my guests, I decided that having a wedding website would be a good idea, so I began the search for the right platform all over again. Enter Squarespace! The designs were beautiful and the website was quick and easy to build, so it won me over!

When I first started entertaining the idea of starting my own business, I knew Squarespace was going to be the right fit for me, and here are the reasons why I think it will be a good fit for you as well:

1 | The beautiful, modern designs

Squarespace has almost 70 templates that you can choose from, and they all have a strong focus on clean, modern design. Different templates have different functionality, but they are all extremely well designed and very versatile. Even if you have never built a website before, you can create a professional and cohesive website with ease

2 | You have lots of options for customization

Even though you website starts from a template, you have a lot of options to customize it to show your personality and bring your vision to life. You can change the colors and fonts and move things around where you want them on the page. Added bonus, if you do find something you can’t change in the style editor, you have the option to add custom code to make your website even more unique!

3 | It is easy to use

Not everyone has web design experience, and with Squarespace, you don’t even need it! Your website is made up of different types of “blocks” that you can drag and drop around the page to achieve the look you are going for, making it easy to update text, add pictures or move things around.

All changes you make on your website can be seen immediately as you make them, which helps to ensure things look great as you go! Another added bonus: you don’t have to know how to code or worry about plugins, as all the needed functionality is already built into your website from the start!

4 | Your website will be responsive across platforms

Browsing the internet on a mobile or tablet is becoming more and more common, with about 50% of browsing being done from our phones. Squarespace has mobile optimization built in, meaning your website will automatically look great on different devices! You even have specific mobile options in the style editor if you want to tweak things a little more.

5 | The support team is amazing!

If you ever have a technical issue or get stuck trying to get something to work, Squarespace has great options to help you. Firstly, their support knowledge base is extremely detailed and you can search for the issue you are having.

If you’re still stuck, you can contact the support team directly, and will usually have a response within 24 hours! There is a live chat option that is open Monday to Friday, 4am-8pm Eastern time, or you can send an email through. The responses are quite detailed, and will often include links to articles that may help, video instructions and detailed steps to take. Support staff have the ability to see the back end of your website as well, which makes troubleshooting a breeze!

6 | It is reliable, secure and full of modern functionality

The online world is always changing, especially when it comes to security. Squarespace takes care of all updates and security requirements on their end, meaning you can sit back and know that that you’re protected!

Another added perk is that if there ever are any big issues, you know Squarespace will take care of it to ensure your website it up and running again as quickly as possible!

7 | It’s affordable

Squarespace offers a range of plans that vary from $12-$26 per month. This cost is all-inclusive - all templates, hosting, security, 24 hour email support, unlimited pages, e-commerce, mobile optimization and more are included! Also, you only pay for what you need since you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time.

When you consider the cost of a developer to create your website on other platforms, your monthly hosting fees, the initial template purchase, plugins, ongoing developer support to make even minor changes, and your time updating everything regularly, the costs for a website on another platform can skyrocket!

8 | It makes SEO easy!

SEO (search engine optimization) is basically how easily a search engine like Google can find your website to show it to someone when they are searching for something. There a lot of components to SEO, so I won’t go into it in this post, but let’s just say that Squarespace makes it easy to implement, so you have more chance of being found online!

9 | E-Commerce is built in

All Squarespace plans apart from a personal plan have an option to integrate e-commerce. Setting up an online store means you don’t have to worry about extra security features or how to take payments, saving you time! Depending on your plan, you can even access features such as abandoned shopping carts and integration with your some accounting software.

10 | You can integrate your external programs

You can integrate external programs such as your email platform, pop-up widgets, heat map tools, and Google Analytics easily, without having to worry about additional plugins. Also, your social media accounts can all be linked in as well, making it easy for your customer’s to check you out elsewhere on the web!
